Yes, I totally want you to watch music videos in class today.

I want to you watch them as a designer.

I want you to try to identify what you think makes them good.

What type of techniques can you identify either in filming or obtaining media and editing?

I will show you Capital Cities Safe and Sound (Original Version) in class today.  I like it because it “mashes” video footage from dance and war from the past 100 years.

When I was looking for the link to show you, I came across another version, which also looks like it was produced by Capital Cities, called Safe and Sound (Official Video)

Then, I also came across the Behind the Scenes of the making of the film:

But now I’m left with questions:

Why did they change the original video (which I liked a bit more)?

Did they purchase copyrighted material to make their video?  Or is it under the realm of Fair Use?

Or is some of the footage so old, that it falls under Public Domain now?

Now I need to go inquire, I’ll report back with any findings.
